Football has known to be an entertaining sport loved by many people across the globe, but an unusual thing that has happened has shocked everyone in the football fraternity. Footballers in Manchester are mourning the death of one of their own as he took his own life.
Versatile Manchester city attacker Raheem Sterling led tribute to former youth player Jeremy Winsten who died at 18 years of age. Born in Malawi Jeremy Winsten was a defender who joined City's elite youth squads in 2016, according to PA Media.
The club confirmed about the tragic death in a statement on twitter that read “The Manchester City family are saddened to learn of the passing of the former academy player 'Jeremy Winsten'. We send our deepest condolences to his friends and family".
Jeremy Winsten was at Manchester City academy since his tender age, worked extra hard to make a breakthrough to the main team and play under Pep Guardiola, but that did not happen. The club saw it wise to release him, something he did not expect from his early childhood club.
Former Manchester city academy coach Mark Rees who worked with the youngster was on record on The Athletic publications that he met with Winsten earlier this year and the player said he had given up because he couldn't find a club, but the coach couldn't realize that the player meant he had given up on his life.
There is a sombre mood in his family and friends who worked with him at Manchester City. Cole Palmer a Manchester City lad since 2010 posted an emotion farewell on instagram while Former City academy product Tyrhys Dolan who now plays for Blackburn Rovers raised money to ensure the best send off for his brother.
