Football Association of Malawi President Walter Nyamilandu has disclosed that FAM is in talks with the Malawi Government about resuming the country's top flight league which was postponed because of the corona virus outbreak.

In a meeting with concerned supporters representing Nyasa Big Bullets and Mighty Be Forward Wanderers at FAM premises in Chiwembe, Nyamilandu assured football lovers that the association is planning to resume the league by following Government protocols.

"Plans are underway to resume the season before September. Last week we met with SULOM to prepare for the season. This coming Saturday there is also a competition committee and task force committee meeting to discuss about the long term plans as we know that Corona Virus is here to stay." He said.

The competition was put on pause before it began as teams were ready to get back underway after Nyasa Big Bullets went away with the top prize last season.

However the pandemic has brought many hurdles to the economy of the country with football not spared. As of May this year almost every football club in the country has implemented salary cuts in order to cope up with the restrictions and keep the clubs going
