Miss Malawi National beauty contest has announced the return of the Miss Malawi Pageantry after a four-year hiatus through their new organizers, Alpha Arts events management.

Tiwonge Munthali is the current Miss Malawi beauty queen while Mwabi Mfune and Ngugi Buleya are first and second princesses respectively. Yes, Tiwonge Munthali has been Miss Malawi for the past four years until a new queen is crowned.

In 2020, SoNa Agency apparently acquired the Miss Malawi beauty pageant hosting rights and announced a 2020-2021 pageant which was slated for April that year. The Miss Malawi 2020 edition was initially scheduled for September, but was later postponed due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

To many peoples dismay, the pageant was a no show despite all the efforts and money invested in the project.

Fast forward to year 2022, Tina Kendricks, one of the directors of Alpha Arts has announced the resumption. The event management marketing agency has taken over Miss Malawi after Zodiak and Nation Publications Limited last hired the License from events manager Carver Bhima in 2017.

Since the return of the pageant was announced, over 100 contestants have reportedly been registered proving how much the pageant has been missed in the country. Matured young Malawian ladies aged 18 years to 28 and of 165 cm height are still encouraged to apply. Dates for both physical auditions and the final showdown will soon be announced.

From the very first pageant in 1970, Miss Malawi has always represented the highest of ideals. A combination of beauty, grace and intelligence; artistic and refined. Since then, Miss Malawi has been a role model to both young and old alike; a spokesperson using her title to educate millions of Malawians on issues of importance to herself and the society at large.

The new Miss Malawi becomes the image of the organisation that supports different social and charitable causes around Malawi.

Apart from being the oldest and most prestigious national pageant, Miss Malawi is the epitome of beauty pageants in the country.
