All Set for 2022 Shalex Africa Fashion Show

Shalex Organization has said all is set for this years Africa Fashion in Motion show scheduled to take place on 26 November at Glalle Garden opposite Bingu National Stadium in Lilongwe.

Shalex Organization founder, Shadrack Ndonda said the event is a platform that brings together artists and people of different backgrounds and nationalities to celebrate diversity in the fashion industry.

He also emphasized that Shalex Africa Fashion in Motion is aimed at promoting different youth talents through fashion.

"We want to expose our handcrafts to different people to appreciate our hand creations. There is a lot of youths that have talents but they are locked because they dont have support or opportunities. Shalex is there to give them a chance to perform at this fashion event," he reiterated.

In a separate interview, Merve Designs founder Mervis Grace Makulusa said she was excited and thrilled to showcase her products at the event.

"This is a good platform for exposure and marketing. I urge people to come and support us," said the Lilongwe based designer.

One of the models, 20 year old Victoria Michongwe also expressed excitement to being part of this years Shalex Fashion Show.

"This will be my second time to walk for Shalex Fashion Show and I cant wait to see the designs from other designers as well. I am looking forward to more of these events as they will help our Fashion and modeling industry in Malawi. I am also looking forward to how I will grow and learn a lot from other models and designers from different nationalities," she said.

Other designers billed to showcase at the event are House of Doxa, Stitch angel designs, MG APPAREL, MerVE Designs and Qin Dee. The last Shalex Africa Fashion in Motion event took place in 2021. Shalex organisation is registered as a community based organisation at Dzaleka Refugee Camp.

The organization started in 2015 to spearhead Dzaleka Refugee Camp community development. Shalex mission is to transform the youths through fashion to create networks across all borders and the host community. Shalex organisation has tremendously grown, teaching tailoring and designing to the youths.
