Tumaini Festival Risks Cancellation
by Harold Kapindu
One of the countrys biggest arts and cultural festivals, Tumaini risks cancellation due to lack of funding.
In an interview, Tumaini Festival founder Menes La Plume said Tumaini is a free festival which depends on funding.
"Tumaini is a free festival, and we rely on donations from well-wishers to make it happen. With no funding this year, we are at risk of canceling the event. Therefore, we request that all well-wishers in the corporate and NGO sectors join us and help make this years festival possible," he said.
He also revealed that the online crowd funding campaign has not been successful.
"For the first time since the inception of the Tumaini Festival in 2014, we are not successful with our annual Crowdfunding Campaign. We did our best, but the campaign did not reach its target.
"We know that this year has been more difficult financially for everyone; we cant be grateful enough to the 49 friends who contributed to support the festival; we really appreciate your love!".
"Unfortunately, the campaign did not reach its target; therefore, we will not be able to receive the money that has been contributed, as the Kickstarter system is all or nothing" Menes La Plume added.
